Shatsky Coaching
Supportive, Empathetic, Insightful and Challenging
What do I want?
What am I willing to do to achieve it?

Scott Shatsky has been keenly attuned and committed to the LGBTQ+ community since 1983 when, at 17, he moved to San Francisco and began his life-long activism fighting for LGBTQ+ rights through ACT UP. Following a long and successful career in entertainment where he developed and produced documentary films and unscripted television projects illuminating the challenges of interpersonal relationships, Scott pivoted and earned his master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. He pursued his clinical training at AIDS Project LA (APLA) and The LGBTQIA+ Center in Palm Springs in his drive to continue making a substantive difference in the LGBTQ+ community. Coach Shatsky uses an affirmative approach, and his specialties include sex and body positivity, couples in crisis; individuals adapting to change, aging, grief, and trauma; and multi-generational family dynamics. His unique perspective brings together his lived experience, empathy, wisdom, and clinical training for the benefit of his clients.

In his practice, Scott uses an affirmative and inclusive approach focused on the client's willingness and ability for change. Scott believes that our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and physiological responses exist in culture, religious, and social contexts that hold meaning and can be guided through empathy and reshaped through bringing awareness to that meaning. His unique perspective brings together his lived experience, empathy, wisdom, and clinical training for the benefit of his clients.

In 2024, Scott was diagnosed with cancer. With the unflinching physical care and emotional support of his husband, Scott experienced catastrophic impact of reactions to chemotherapy which resulted in an extended hospital stay and multiple life-saving surgeries. Scott’s resilience combined with the immense love of friends and family, helped him to survive Rectal Cancer, colon and rectum removal, additional chemotherapy and internal reconstruction of the digestive system. Scott’s stellar and compassionate team at Cedars Sinai led by an Oncologist and a Surgeon gave Scott a chance at recovery. Now, cancer free and functional, Scott’s determination to work hand in hand with clients is stronger than ever.

Scott's sex/body positivity technique is inclusive for all genders and sexual orientations exploring the psychosexual spectrum including stigmas, shame, ideals, interests, and perceived needs within personal boundaries and identity with exploration of individual hopes and fears as related to diverse desires and practices within sexual subcultures that are often marginalized and considered taboo.
